Bryce Carlson, resident of Lafayette, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Purdue, and runner extraordinaire, has embarked on a journey to run across the US. His journey commenced on January 16, 2015 and he is currently in Texas. He is running as part of the Race Across the USA Team. The race is being held in support of the 100 Mile Club, a 501(c)(3) committed to reducing the prevalence and future incidence of childhood obesity by promoting physical activity among elementary school kids. Additionally, Bryce will study the physical and mental effects of running a marathon every day for nearly five months – he is a professor, after all.
You can follow Bryce’s daily progress here. Bryce also regularly updates his blog. We will try to share some of his FB posts on the WRRC FB page.
The WRRC would like to help support Bryce’s cause financially in his endeavor. The club is willing to match donations to Bryce (up to $500 total). If you would like to help Bryce and get it counted towards the $500 match, follow these steps.
- Go to Bryce’s fundraising page http://www.imathlete.com/donate/brycecarlson
- Select an amount on the right hand side of the page and click DONATE
- In the Leave a Comment box, you will need to write #WRRC and the $ amount you are leaving (see picture to the right).
- If you do not put #WRRC – $AMOUNT, we won’t know to match funds or how much to match.
- You can include your name or leave the funds anonymously. That is up to you.
- Donate by May 15th to have your funds included with the WRRC matching funds.
We will post reminders periodically and will update regarding Bryce’s progress. Let’s help a fellow runner out and help a good cause in the process.
