The Farmer’s Market 5K on October 15th will have an added twist. WRRC will provide a Family night where you can bring the kids!! We are having a Kids run at 6:00PM before the Adult FM5K. This will be two separate groups of kids, one for the 3-7 age group and one for the 8-12 age group.
- The 3-7 age group will run 0.15 miles, this is from the wooden bridge behind where the adults start to the shelter where we normally register(on the paved path).
- The 8-12 age group will start approximately where the regular FM starts, run around the woods, around the shelter on the corner and out to the end of the trail heading toward Kalberer. This is approximately 1 mile.
The cost per child is $3, however, if you have three or more, it will only be $2 per child.
WRRC is proud to partner with Officer Tim A. Potts, Administrative Operations Captain with Purdue University Police Department – as he was selected to represent the 2014 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and Fallen Officers Fund. Tim and his group will lead a Torch Run for Special Olympics and recognize fallen IMPD Officer Perry Renn at the Farmers Market 5k Run in Cumberland Park, Wednesday, September 17th at 6:30pm. Law enforcement officers and their families as with Special Olympic athletes will be there. Donations will be taken for Law Enforcement for Special Olympics and Fallen Officers Fund. T-Shirts will also be available for purchase. Come and run – be a part of this event!
Non-members $3 and maximum $5 per family
Check out the route for the 2014 RITNY WRRC run. The run starts on the Pedestrian Bridge and routes around the West Lafayette trails for about 2 miles. The course gets a bit squiggly as you enter Tapawingo Park, but it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out and will be marked with sidewalk chalk.
Reminders for the race :
- Registration and Breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn
- Run Start: 10:00 am New Year’s Day
- Buffet breakfast after the run
- Dress for cold weather!
In just a few weeks, the annual WRRC Run in the New Year (RITNY) run will occur on Wednesday January 1st. This event is the best way for you to join or renew your membership in the club. The easiest way for your to renew or join is to open and save this form, print it, fill it in, and bring it with you to the Hilton Garden Inn in the Wabash Landing shopping center. We will also have forms for you to fill out in case you forget or do not have a printer. The club meets in the hotel lobby and goes for a brisk run/walk around the river. The run starts at 10 AM with registration and membership renewal beginning at 9 AM.
After the run, the club eats a buffet breakfast in the hotel. This is a great way to meet members of the club and to start working off some of those holiday goodies. Hope to see you for our first run of 2014!!
We are planning a big summer social event for the club members!! We would like to see as many as possible come, mingle and get to know one another. We are so busy running in our pace groups, we do not always get the opportunity to talk with the other runners.
We would like to include the families, therefore we decided to have it at Columbian Park in Lafayette. We have reserved a shelter on the Park Ave side (Red 2). The playground is nearby for the kids and since WRRC is providing the location and FOOD, all you need to do is come, bring the family and enjoy!!! This will be held on June 22nd so mark your calendar now! The time is TBD. We will send out more details as they are available.
